Charles Augustus Wetzler (429) married Margaretha Heindel (430), daughter of George Heindel (1729) and Barbara (--?--) (1730), on 7/6/1862 at Clarno, Green Co., WI.
Charles Augustus Wetzler (429) died on 8/6/1908 at Oketo, KS, at age 69.
In the 1873 plat map of Clarno, Green Co., WI it shows the Charles Wetzler family in Section 12. This is about 1 mile southeast of Monroe, and very near the cemetery. He had purchased land Dec. 19, 1867 and gave a mortgage to John Wetzler the same day. This was released Jan. 15, 1876. the final land transaction was Nov. 1, 1878 when he sold all his holdings in section 12
. They moved to Brown Co., KS in 1878, then to Balderson Twsp of Marshall Co. in 1881. Moved to Marysville, KS in 1900 after the death of his wife. His sister Mrs. Weismiller became his housekeeper -- obit in Advocate Democrat, 1908.

Joseph Samuel Wetzler (423) appeared on the census of 6/6/1860 at Monroe, Green Co., WI. Civil War: WI 22nd Reg., Co G, 8/9/1862-6/12/1865. The Twenty-second Wisconsin Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp Utley, Racine, Wisconsin, and mustered into the service of the United States on September 2, 1862. It left the state on the 16th and proceeded to Covington, KY where it was at once assigned to active duty as a part of the various expeditions into central Kentucky in pursuit of the Confederate forces, including expeditions to Lexington and Danville, and into middle Tennessee to Nashville and Franklin.
The Twenty-second first met the enemy in force at Thompson's Station, March 5, 1863, and on the 25th of the same month were compelled to surrender at Brentwood, TN. An exchange of prisoners having soon thereafter been perfected, the regiment was re-equipped at St. Louis in June and returned to the field of operations about Nashville and Murfreesboro, where the Twenty-second remained until February 1864. In April it was transferred to Chattanooga, and on the 7th of May took position in front of Buzzard Roost. With the Army of the Cumberland it served in the Campaign of Atlanta May 1 to September 8, 1864. As a part of such army the Twenty-second participated in various minor engagements, and in the battles of Resaca, GA, May 14-15, Dalton, GA, May 13, Kenesaw Mountain Operations June 10-July 3, Peach Tree Creek, GA, July 20 and Atlanta July 21, 1864.
On November 15 with Sherman's Army it began the "March to the Sea", which was concluded at Savannah December 21, 1864. With the Union forces the Twenty-second left Savannah January 2, 1865 and prticipated in the Campaign in the Carolinas, and in the battle at Averasborough, NC, March 16, 1865, and was present at Bentonville. After the surrender of the Confederates under Gen. J. E. Johnston, April 26, 1865, the Twenty-second marched to Washington and participated in the Grand Review; it camped for a few days in the suburbs of Washington, and was mustered out of the service June 12, 1865. It proceeded to Milwaukee, WI, where the regiment was soon afterwards disbanded.

:Application for Invalid Veteran's Pension. Application No. 1068705, Certificate No. 792733. The Declaration is dated 10/7/1891 and is made from Jasper, MO. P.O. address is Sarcoxie. It states that he is partially disabled due to "Chronic Diarrhea, Piles, Catarrh, Rheumantism". The two witnesses claim thay have been acquainted with Theodore for 4 years, presumeably implying that he had lived in Sarcoxie for that long, on 10/12/1891.
